Just finished another amazing morning with Annie, the girls and Pilates. Loved it!
I really want to focus today on taking small steps in your way life which will in turn create Big changes, all for the better, starting with the foods you eat. I have been reading so much in the last few months and everything I read keeps telling me the same thing, the best diets in the world, as far as healthy eating and preventative disease and sickness foods, are Asian/Indian and Mediterranean diets. And if you know any of these dishes at all it makes complete sense. Asian/Indian diets consist of a lot of fresh herbs, spices, veggies, chick peas, lentils and rice. Nothing packaged, nothing frozen just straight from the earth. Mediterranean diets consist of a lot of fresh vegetables and fruit, olive oil, fish, whole grain and regularly consume a glass of red wine while consuming all of these healthy foods, all of which (including the glass of red wine) are good for the heart. Note that there is not any snacking between meals, particularly in Asian/ Indian diets that often leads to a handful of potato chips or a cookie in our Westernized diets. I am currently researching particular ingredients found in their healthy diets but will save those for another day. Until then I want you to think about the name of my Blog site"Your Inner U", and think about the foods we put into our bodies and how, although we can not see ourselves internally, it is deeply affecting our Inner selves. Start making small changes today by picking up an apple for a snack rather than a granola bar, have a salad as your side dish rather than french fries and bake a piece of chicken in the oven rather than throwing it in the frying pan. Also, anything you can make from scratch rather than buy packaged and frozen from the grocery store is so important. I will fill you in on that one later as well but for now just keep that strongly in mind. There are tons of recipes online so go check em out and start making those small changes today. Until next time!

So true Julie!! It is like the comparison with putting gas in your car. If you want a well oiled 'machine' you have to put the best stuff in it to get amazing results!! I am a strong believer in making foods yourself, so you can control what is going into the foods you eat. It is sad seeing parents feeding their kids foods full of crazy chemicals and pumped full of hormones with garbage foods, yet they would never hand them actually straight up chemicals and say 'drink up'!!! Keep up the awesome work girl...also you should check out 'Food Rules' by Michael Pollen, awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessica. It is something that I know we both truly believe in so let's continue to get the message out there and get back to taking time for the important things like what we put into our bodies. I will definitely pick up that book as I know you are full of good info so I am confident in your recommendations. Let's chat soon!
